House Republicans passed a bill that guts food and health care programs to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. It includes the largest Medicaid cut in U.S. history – over $880 billion – putting health care at risk for tens of thousands of Mainers. It cuts $230 billion from SNAP over the next decade. It’s a $5.6 trillion give-away to the ultra-wealthy, with the richest 1% getting a quarter of the tax cut benefits. The plan will shift enormous costs onto states, blowing giant holes in state budgets and exploding the national debt by almost $4 trillion and putting a $190 million deficit in Maine’s state budget.
Tell Senators Collins and King to reject this cruel and costly budget plan and go back to the drawing board. Fund the programs Maine families and small businesses rely on by ending Trump’s billionaire bailout.
